People have always believed and will continue to believe in God. This is extremely important, because a person's level of spirituality, morality, and purity of conscience depends on it. But how can one maintain spirituality without reading the Bible? The Bible is a message from our loving Father, who assures us of his love, comforts, encourages, instructs, and provides guidance. For example, the Bible says: “I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit yourself, the One guiding you in the way you should walk.” The world would be much better if people applied the counsel found in the Bible.
As I read the Bible, I increasingly realized just how wise this book is. It offers counsel for every situation in life. I have been studying the Bible for 29 years now. Thanks to what I have learned, I have learned not to hate people, nor to incite anyone to violence or cruelty. I am against extremism. A man once wondered why we have been reading this book for so many years. It is because the Bible is a book of divine wisdom. Jehovah God gave us this book as a guide for life. As our Creator, he knows what is best for us. The Bible should not just be read, but meditated upon — most importantly, we must apply its counsel in life.
Here are just a few examples: “Just as you want men to do to you, do the same to them”; “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you.” Is such a model of behavior characteristic of extremist activity? The answer is obvious: no. Yet this is precisely what I am currently being charged with.
The Bible says that God never wanted evil or violence to occur, and expects his servants to develop the same thinking, attitude, and disposition. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said: “Happy are the peacemakers... happy are the mild-tempered... happy are the merciful... happy are the pure in heart... Love your enemies and pray for those who …
