Your Honor, Olga Vladimirovna! Not everyone has to stand before the court for their beliefs, but I do. That is why the opportunity to make a final statement is very important to me. I am grateful that you have given me this opportunity. Thank you for being attentive, for delving into the details of the case, and for maintaining a calm and respectful atmosphere in the courtroom. I sincerely thank my friends and everyone who has not remained indifferent to what is happening to me.
The review of my criminal case has concluded, and I still cannot understand what my guilt is or why I am considered dangerous. I have always obeyed the laws of our country, so I genuinely do not understand why I am being prosecuted. Is it because I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses? Our constitution grants everyone the right to freely choose their religious beliefs. I will explain why I chose this particular religion.
First, I was attracted by how friendly and attentive all Jehovah's Witnesses were. Their conversation was pure; no one used foul language. The atmosphere was pleasant. At the meeting for worship of Jehovah's Witnesses, the Bible was always read aloud.
Later, I learned from the Bible what God's name is, that he is a spiritual person, and he cannot be depicted. I also learned why there is so much evil and suffering and what will happen to our planet in the future. This gave me peace of mind and confidence in a better future.
I had always wanted to become a happy person. And precisely here, in the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses, I found real happiness. I saw what true love is and found answers to my questions.
I began to carefully study the Bible and learned that it was written under God's guidance. It is through the Bible that God tells us about himself, what he is like, his purpose, and the future of humanity. The Bible contains both positive and negative examples.
