The Case of Lebed in Moscow

Case History

In April 2025, the Investigative Committee of Moscow opened a criminal case against Nadezhda Lebed. The house of the believer and her husband was searched. The woman was taken for interrogation and a recognizance agreement was taken from her. For her belief in Jehovah God, Nadezhda was charged with participating in the activities of an extremist organization. About four years ago, the couple was already searched as part of the case of Roman Mareyev. In June 2025, the case went to court.

    Nadezhda Lebed is in hospital, in the cardiology department. Her condition is stable, there are no plans for surgery yet. Earlier, she went to the doctor complaining of chest pains; she was immediately hospitalized.

    The case is submitted to the Savyolovsky District Court of Moscow and referred to Judge Anna Kozlova.

    Two witnesses for the prosecution are being interrogated. One of them says that he saw Nadezhda twice — in the fall of 2018 and in the spring of 2019.

    According to him, there were no threats from her, she did not humiliate him or cause him any harm. He also confirms that he did not hear from her any calls for violent actions or to undermine the constitutional order or security of the Russian Federation.

    The second witness for the prosecution, an officer, admits that because the events happened so long ago, he does not remember much.
